Emmanuel Macron receives this Monday, July 12 at the Elysee the representatives of the automotive industry.

A little over a year after the implementation of the sector-specific recovery plan, the objective is to "

mobilize the sector in the face of the acceleration of the ecological transition

build a strategic vision on the horizon. 2030

”.

Discussions should focus on a detailed transition plan with strong ambition, in particular on batteries, hydrogen and on-board software.

Still according to a source at the Élysée, the issue of enhanced support for the entire industry affected by this transition will also be on the menu.

This aid has been evaluated by the sector.

The automotive industry platform estimates investments to be located in France at 17 billion euros by 2025, and would need public support for nearly a third of this amount.

Just for electric batteries, it would take more than 6.5 billion investment, because France has only two "gigafactories".

However, it would take five times more in ten years.

Eight and a half billion euros would also be needed to accelerate the deployment of electric charging stations.

France is very late in this matter.

According to the Association for the Development of Electric Mobility, only a third of the number of terminals planned for the end of 2021 has been installed to date.

However, the industry has little choice but to adapt.

The European Commission is due to propose new regulations this week to reduce CO2 emissions from new vehicles.

According to several sources, zero emissions would be considered for 2035.
