From Sunday noon, "on the secure platform Neovote, citizens will be able to choose the name of the candidates they would like to see win in the presidential election of 2022", explains in a statement on Saturday the "popular primary », Created by supporters of the union of the left in the presidential election of 2022.

Citizens will be able to either "propose the names of candidates to be displayed on the platform (from political circles or civil society)", or "sponsor candidates already posted online".

At the end of three months, "the five women and the five men having the most sponsorships and adhering to the common base of the primary, will be able to become official candidates for the Popular Primary, and thus participate in the final vote from November 18 to 21. », Adds the press release.

"2022 or never"

The “popular primary” is the culmination of a work launched by the Rencontre des justices, a collective aiming to link the aspirations of civil society and left-wing parties. He had created in February "2022 or never", a structure of six employees, strong of 300,000 euros of fundraising, which is at the direct origin of the "popular primary". The objective is "to bring to its end a process of designation by the citizens of a common candidacy for the first round of the presidential election of 2022".

To "guarantee the integrity of the whole process," the statement said, a "high authority" was set up, chaired by lawyer Clara Gérard-Rodriguez, surrounded by two vice-presidents and twelve other members. .
