In Trouville, Normandy, the first vacationers to arrive on Saturday were unable to take advantage of the beach due to erratic weather.

Some found refuge in the fish market where the change of scenery, between smells, colors and flavors, was there.

Normandy, its green pastures, its seaside, its half-timbered houses in pastel shades ... and its rain.

Welcomed by a downpour on their arrival in Trouville on Saturday morning, some of the first holidaymakers of the season finally found refuge in the famous fish market, unable to enjoy the beach.

But all those whom Europe 1 could cross made against bad luck good heart, satisfied to be able to offer themselves a few days of vacation whereas the health context seems again uncertain vis-a-vis the variant Delta.

"We wanted to stay in France"

Amidst the colorful stalls filled with fresh fish, Brigitte, just arrived from the Paris region, does not shy away from her pleasure.

"Me, what makes me want are these crab claws, I've never seen in our stores, at home, in Paris," she slips.

"Everything makes you want, oysters, mussels, it smells of the sea. And these colors, look how tidy it is! It's a pleasure for the eyes and the mouth", she enthuses. 

With successive confinements, Brigitte had not traveled for two years.

"We wanted to stay in France. We have beautiful things too," she says, happy, despite the rain, to escape the monotony of Paris.

A popular destination for Parisians

Olivier, fishmonger, is delighted to see the alleys full of people.

And the busy restaurant terraces.

We are starting to have a few foreigners: Belgians, Dutch ... But it is the Parisians who come the most.

We have a lot more crowds on weekends, especially if the weather is nice, not like today, "he laughs." But the sun will come back.
