WHO has included "Russian strain" of coronavirus on watchlist

It follows from the data that the "Russian" strain AT.1 was added to the list on June 9, and for the first time it was recorded in Russia in January 2021.

In total, the list includes 12 variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus with mutations that may pose a threat, but for which there is not yet enough data.

Earlier, WHO experts included a new mutation COVID-19 "lambda" in the group of interest.

The head of the organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said that the world is at a very dangerous stage of a pandemic due to strains such as "delta", which, according to him, have been identified so far in 98 countries.
