Some reports are anonymous and IVO has not reviewed all individual claims.

But the warning signals are many, and come from both parents, social workers and former employees.

Two examples:

  • In 2017, IVO received a detailed report from an anonymous person who stated that he worked at Platea.

It concerned an infant who, according to the report, was placed in the accommodation without any single room with a cot being prepared.

According to the report, they were instructed that the child should sleep in his pram during the night.

    The environment involved risks.

Outgoing children could come in and hurt the infant, who according to the report could "be left alone for several hours".

  • In 2019, critical views came from a social secretary in a municipality who placed a child, but during a visit was not allowed to meet any responsible person who could tell anything at all about how the child was doing.

The complainant also reacts to how the staff acts towards the child, "angry with a harsh tone".

According to the report, the comments led to the child being relocated.

Platea stands out when SVT goes through the tips.

It is one of the few HVB homes that receives really young children but has more applications than the others.

The picture of shortcomings is in line with testimonies SVT received from previous employees, and with Humana's own investigation.

Humana's CEO reacts strongly to the information in the reports (see video).

“A great place to place kids”

SVT has previously shown that Platea has received IVO criticism on several occasions.

- I wish I could say that it is not true.

But it does.

We have worked hard to overcome problems and challenges for a long time, said Platea's CEO Johanna Rastad this spring.

But both Platea and owner Humana have also defended the business.

- Our opinion is that Platea is a good place to place children, said Humana's press manager as late as June after the death in Hagfors.

When SVT reported in May that Platea had sent millions of profits to Humana, Johanna Rastad replied that in 2021 they would instead reinvest - and invest millions "to bring about a further improvement".

Just over a month later, however, operations were stopped by IVO after the death.

The other day, Humana's message came that it was closing down the entire business.
