The fire broke out before midnight the day before yesterday, in one of the containers of a ship carrying flammable materials, in Jebel Ali Port, and the port authorities, Civil Defense and Dubai Police took quick measures, which enabled them to extinguish the fire in less than 40 minutes, without recording damage or disruption. port operations.

The media office of the Government of Dubai confirmed, in a press statement issued yesterday, that “the accident did not result in any injuries,” noting the quick measures taken by the concerned authorities, most notably the order to evacuate the ship anchored at the old station No. 1, which is used to unload small ships, and the continuation of The other stations (2), (3), (4) are operating normally, which ensured that the port operations continue without interruption.

The statement added, "After being able to put out the fire, the Civil Defense, Dubai Police and Jebel Ali Port authorities, in cooperation with the competent authorities, were keen to take the necessary immediate measures to ensure the continuation of operations at the stations, including Station 1 where the accident occurred," noting The Jebel Ali Port authorities have launched an extensive investigation into the cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding it, with port operations continuing as usual without any disruption to its schedule.

For its part, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure praised the standard response of the competent authorities in Dubai to control the fire, considering it "the result of many years of preparation and advance preparation, and work on developing a world-class infrastructure in ports and marine facilities."

He added: "Our priority now is to continue to ensure that the accident will not cause the release of harmful substances into the marine environment, and the marine sector management team in the ministry will continue to investigate the accident, to draw lessons learned, and we are working in coordination with the relevant international authorities to intensify the precautionary measures that would limit from the occurrence of damages resulting from marine accidents.

He continued, "We assure the public in Dubai and the UAE, including individuals, institutions, and those involved in the maritime sector, that Jebel Ali Port's logistics and operational facilities have not been subjected to any damage, and that the accident did not affect the movement of ships, due to its distance from the main shipping line and the water channel in the port."
