Straight away, the director of the United Nations Environment Program, assured that an agreement on the Renaissance dam could be reached.

In turn, the 15 members of the Security Council agreed, even going so far as to offer logistical assistance in the organization of talks - a Russian proposal, or experience sharing - a Mexican proposal.

And all praised a supervision of the African Union (AU), the regional organization being best placed to monitor the situation according to them. However, Egypt has been worried, no longer believing in AU mediation, which has been at an impasse for a year according to her.

She asked the Council

to consider a draft resolution proposed by Tunisia, which requires a settlement of the conflict within six months, an end to the filling of the dam by Ethiopia and the inclusion on the Security Council's agenda of this. folder.

Sudan has asked for help to find a legally binding agreement.

As for Ethiopia, it simply indicated that since the conflict does not threaten international peace and security, it should not be discussed in the Security Council.
