• Health Telemadrid denounces to the Prosecutor's Office the computer failure that revealed data on vaccinated people such as the King and Pedro Sánchez

The PP has managed to approve an express reform of the

Telemadrid Law

that modifies the election system of its leadership.

Despite its harsh criticism of the "interventionism" of the measure, Vox has finally allowed with its abstention that the initiative goes ahead in the vote of the text this Thursday in the Plenary of the Vallecas Assembly.

The most immediate effect will be that Isabel Díaz Ayuso will dismiss the general director of the chain,

José Pablo López

, to put in his place a provisional administrator appointed directly by his Government. The left-wing parties oppose it with the argument that it is an "assault" on the independence of the public entity and that they want to return to the "manipulation" of the time of Esperanza Aguirre.

The regional president, who has not been present in the reform debate, has argued in a previous speech that "a public service without a public is not a service, but

a business for four

.

"

"Therefore, it is my mission as manager to guarantee the future, the audience and the quality of Onda Madrid and Telemadrid. That is why we reform the law," he added.

In addition, Ayuso has stressed that the cost of the entity is

"almost two Zendales per legislature",

alluding to the expense involved in the construction of the hospital specialized in pandemics, and that she is "obliged to ensure its viability."

To which he added: "I take care of complying with the program contract, among other things, when the chain's management has not even prepared it within the established deadline and if it is not due to the work of my Government, the employees remain unpaid. your payroll. "

The changes

With the regulatory change, the director's mandate of the entity will be of

four non-renewable years

, compared to the six provided in the norm that was approved in 2015 so that it did not coincide with the electoral periods and that Ayuso defended on behalf of the PP to ensure its "depoliticization ". The appointment from now on will be made by an absolute majority and not with the support of two thirds of the Chamber, which required the consensus of various groups.

In parallel, all the members of the board of directors of Radio Televisión Madrid will be appointed by the Madrid Assembly at the proposal of the parliamentary groups as

"the best guarantee of independence

, neutrality and objectivity", according to the PP.

Five of the nine who currently hold the position were elected by civil society associations and the rest by the four formations that had representation six years ago.

Criticisms from the left

The parties of the left, for their part, have shown their intention to

go to court

to paralyze this reform, but for the moment the threat has not materialized in any concrete remedy.

"Mrs. Ayuso is going to have a Telemadrid that is not going to be very right-wing, not even very PP, it will be a very Ayuso Telemadrid and she is going to use it for her particular interests as Mrs. Esperanza Aguirre did," he said. the deputy of Más Madrid

Hugo Martínez Abarca

. "It is a very hard blow to the credibility of Telemadrid if we do not manage to stop it," he stressed after accusing the president of "violating press freedom."

In the PSOE, in turn, they consider that the regional government wields the need to "modernize" the regional chain to "camouflage" that what it wants is "to ensure greater control and not greater autonomy." The parliamentarian

Isabel Aymerich

has indicated that "the most immediate change will be to expire the mandate of its director general" to put "a provisional administrator elected directly by the Governing Council": "Isn't this a take off you to put me on? ".

Finally, Unidos Podemos has accused the Ayuso Executive of wanting "Telemadrid to once again be the dark Telemadrid of Esperanza Aguirre when they called the director to tell him to manipulate the information."

"This modification represents the nostalgia of the reactionaries, but what they do not want to understand is that Madrid society does not want to return to that dark stage," said

Vanessa Lillo

.

Vox Warning

Despite facilitating the approval of the reform with its abstention, Vox has criticized that in the PP reform proposal there is not "a single reference to spending" or "a reference to transparency" which it considers to be "the most evident proof that their only desire here is for political intervention, to use this autonomous body as a

loudspeaker at the service of their propaganda

.

"

The Rocío Monasterio group, which demands the closure of the regional chain, at a cost of almost 75 million euros a year, has described the Ayuso party's proposal as "insufficient, unfocused and deeply wrong", as well as "crude and lewd". "But we are not going to contribute to perpetuate the control of the public chain by its political activists, leftists and liberals, do not count on it or as a joke", has argued deputy

José Luis Ruiz

.

In addition, the representative of Vox has pointed out that, "see it or not see it, Telemadrid costs each Madrid home three times the subscription to any payment platform, but since Telemadrid's audience barely reaches 7%, that means that each household that does watch Telemadrid if it were by subscription would have to pay for it

40 times what a pay channel costs

".

"Would anyone in their right mind pay for that? What a joke is this," he stressed.

First initiative

The Telemadrid reform is the first parliamentary initiative to be processed in this new legislature.

The PP has presented the proposal through the single reading procedure, which represents an

emergency route

that shortens the deadlines, eliminates the debate in committee and the possibility of presenting amendments by the groups.

In the Puerta del Sol they have not yet revealed who will be the provisional administrator who will be in charge of the entity, but in the pools the names of well-known journalists have already begun to circulate.

His appointment, which later needs the endorsement of the Assembly, could take place in the ordinary Governing Council next Wednesday or in an extraordinary one convened before.
