They looked wonderfully complicit on Wednesday night for

Charlotte's

very first screening of

Jane

.

Jane Birkin seemed so proud to present the first achievement of her daughter Charlotte Gainsbourg in which the latter paints a delicate portrait of her mother.

Lots of emotions and talent for Jane by Charlotte, documentary and declaration of love from Charlotte Gainsbourg to her mother Jane Birkn.

“It was a long trip,” said Charlotte Gainsbourg after stepping onto the stage with her mother.

The looks that the two women threw in front of the enthusiastic festival-goers who had come to welcome them were a pleasure to see.

Visiting ghosts

The ghosts of Serge Gainsbourg and Kate Barry (daughter of Jane and half-sister of Charlotte, deceased in 2013) invite themselves in the tête-à-tête between the two women who try to overcome what they call their "modesty" .

A visit to Serge Gainsbourg's former Parisian apartment and the discussions between the two women in a family home in Brittany are some of the most magical moments.

Our articles on Cannes are here

“Why do you learn to live without your mom?

It seems to me that this is a goal that we have set ourselves: to free ourselves at all costs.

I don't want to free myself, ”concludes Charlotte Gainsbourg at the end of the film.

We wish the mother and daughter to be able to continue their confidences for a long time.

Jane by Charlotte

is not just a dive into the intimacy of two stars.

It is a declaration of love from a daughter to her mother.

A feeling as universal as it is overwhelming.

The film will be released in theaters on October 27, 2021.
