"A position that ignores both the interests of its own citizens and the sound voices of politicians and scientists that sound in Europe itself," Volodin said in his Telegram channel.

He noted that Western politicians should define their priorities.

“Politicians who think about their citizens cannot be so irresponsible, calling for restricting access to essential drugs in a pandemic,” added the State Duma speaker.

According to Volodin, the reason for this statement may be the growing loss of independence by European states.

Earlier, the Secretary of State for European Affairs at the French Foreign Ministry, Clement Bon, on the air of the France 2 TV channel, said that, according to Paris, the EU countries should not recognize the coronavirus vaccines produced in Russia and China.

Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev, in an interview with RT, noted that this statement contradicts the interests of citizens of France itself and other states of the European Union.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called Bon's statements unacceptable.
