You will have to wait a little longer to get to the airport by tram.

The extension of line A, 4.7 km long, will serve the airport area from the Quatre Chemin junction in Mérignac in January 2023, while the initial delivery was announced for September 2022. Delays in the delivery of materials with the health crisis explain this delay.

"The infrastructure and railway development work started in January 2021 and should be completed in September 2022", explains Bordeaux Métropole.

600 tonnes of rails installed

This extension of line A will cross the ring road on a dedicated structure.

Five new stations will be created.

The tram will run on a single track from the “Quatre chemin” station to the terminus: the airport.

The stations, where the trains cross, will be converted into a double track.

Some 743 rail welds are planned and 600 tonnes of rails should be laid on this extension of line A. The cost of this investment is estimated at 90 million euros HT (excluding road link works) supported by Bordeaux Métropole.

The State contributes up to € 692,000 for cycling continuities.
