In 2004, the then Hoh Xil Administration Bureau relied on China's first private nature protection station—Sonan Dajie Conservation Station to set up the world's highest wildlife rescue center.

Bu Zhou, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Kekexili Management Office of the Yangtze River Source Park of the Three Rivers Source National Park, introduced that each year during the calving period of the Tibetan antelopes, the rescue center of the Sonam Dage Conservation Station receives several abandoned or scattered small Tibetan antelopes.

Up to now, Tibetan antelopes have been mainly rescued. More than 600 Tibetan antelopes, Tibetan wild asses, saker falcons, and bar-headed geese have been rescued. More than 50 Tibetan antelopes have been released to nature.

According to the reporter's understanding, the rescue center has also successfully realized Tibetan antelope reproduction under artificial feeding management conditions, which laid the foundation for scientific research on Tibetan antelope breeding and ex-situ breeding in the Hoh Xil Nature Reserve.

Bu Zhou said that the Sonam Dajie Protection Station has become a central protection station integrating scientific research, rescue, protection, and propaganda in Hoh Xil, a window for external propaganda and education, and a front-line command post for large-scale anti-poaching operations.

It is reported that after several generations of Hoh Xil mountain patrol team members climbed on the ice, lie down in the snow, ate and sleep in the wind, and arduously attacked and protected by law enforcement, after 2009, Hoh Xil has never heard the sound of poaching guns, and achieved zero poaching in and around Hoh Xil Reserve for 11 consecutive years. The population of Tibetan antelopes in the region has reached more than 70,000.

"Nowadays, Hoh Xil has become a veritable'Animal Kingdom.' Tibetan antelope and other wild animals thrive peacefully and leisurely. You can see Tibetan antelope and other wild animal activities at any time along the Qinghai-Tibet Highway, and it has become the Qinghai-Tibet Line. A beautiful scenery in the city," Bu Zhou said.
