The Assistance publique-Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP) unveiled the results of the experiment conducted during the Indochina concert last May on Thursday.

The conclusions of the study show that there was no increase in coronavirus contamination linked to this concert test.

The May 29 test concert in Paris with Indochina, which was held in front of a masked crowd, demonstrated "the absence of an over-risk of infection" with Covid-19, revealed Thursday the Assistance publique-Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP).

This is good news for the current music sector with a view to a lasting resumption of standing concerts in September, even in the event of the epidemic continuing.

An experiment on two groups of people

The study therefore "showed a similar infection rate in people attending a concert compared to people not participating." The presence "at a concert was not associated with an increased risk of transmission of (Covid-19) during a concert in a standing configuration without physical distancing in people masked with a negative antigen test in a closed room" , again highlights the AP-HP.

The experiment was based on two populations observed, after drawing lots of volunteers.

A group of 3,917 people attended the Indochina concert in Bercy (Accor Arena).

And 1,947 people stayed at home, to mirror the circulation of the Covid-19.

All had been tested three days before, on D-day (posterior results in this specific case) and seven days after.

Any volunteer showing signs of Covid-19 during the test 72 hours before was excluded.

The incidence rate corresponds to that of Île-de-France at the time of the concert

"The number of participants with a positive saliva PCR seven days after the event was 8 among the 3,917 participants in the experimental group compared to 3 among the 1,947 participants in the control group", details the AP-HP, in charge of the component. scientist, while the Prodiss (National Union of Musical and Variety Shows) supervised the concert part.

The incidence rate "observed in the two groups (0.20% and 0.15%, respectively) corresponds to the incidence rate in Ile-de-France estimated in the two weeks preceding the event, that is that is to say between 150 and 200 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. It is currently 25 / 100,000 (Public Health France data) ", underlines the AP-HP.
