When the environmental toxin was found in fish in March, the municipality and the county administrative board issued a recommendation that one should not eat perch or pike caught in the waters in question more than two to three times a year.

However, not everyone is aware of this and via the information sheets it is now hoped that more fishermen will become aware of the risks.

- We must do everything we can to get people to follow the dietary recommendation and this is a way for us to inform about the risk that exists.

Regardless of whether you come from Östersund or not, not everyone is in control and then we want to inform already when you collect the fishing license, says Anna Löfholm, water administrator at the County Administrative Board Jämtland.

The information sheets will be available in stores and the County Administrative Board is now investigating possibilities for sending out the information when buying a fishing license via the internet.
