"Father died on the eve of the college entrance examination" boy declined to donate, the head teacher: he wants to fight on his own

Chen Liang, a senior high school graduate of Xiushui Middle School in Anzhou District, Mianyang, Sichuan, has recently attracted public attention.

On the eve of the college entrance examination, his father, who had always depended on him for life, fell ill and died. He resisted his grief and took the college entrance examination.

On the evening of July 7, his head teacher Zeng Hongjun told The Paper that because of his poor performance, Chen Liang's college entrance examination score only exceeded the undergraduate level by a few points, so he applied for a college.

Now, he is working summer vacation to earn tuition for himself.

"Chen Liang declined the help of many caring people. He wanted to fight on his own," said Zeng Hongjun.

According to Zeng Hongjun, Chen Liang's mother and elder brother died one after another when he was a child. For many years, he and his father depended on each other for life.

The father is older and unable to go out to work. He has no financial resources at home and can only live on the subsistence allowance.

"He is more thrifty and has almost no pocket money." Zeng Hongjun said, Chen Liang still maintains an optimistic attitude and studies hard.

After learning about the difficulties in Chen Liang's home, during the three years of high school, the school reduced tuition and fees for Chen Liang. Through his own efforts, Chen Liang also received financial subsidies such as the National Inspirational Scholarship.

In March of this year, Chen Liang's father was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, and he was diagnosed in the advanced stage.

Due to financial constraints at home, Chen Liang's father did not choose to be hospitalized.

At this time, Chen Liang, who was in the sprint stage of the college entrance examination review, had to take care of his family while preparing for the college entrance examination. His grades were affected by this and some decline.

As his father's condition became more serious and the pace of college entrance examination review became more and more tense, Chen Liang, who had to take care of both sides, had the idea of giving up.

He told the class teacher Zeng Hongjun, "If you pass the exam, you can go to the university.

But the teachers continued to encourage Chen Liang, and his father also hoped that he would be admitted to university.

Therefore, Chen Liang still insisted on preparing for the exam.

On the evening of June 5th, it was the day when the college entrance examination candidates of Xiushui Middle School returned to school, but Chen Liang did not come.

Zeng Hongjun later learned that Chen Liang's father passed away on the 5th.

After his father's body was cremated, Chen Liang placed the urn at home.

"The next day I took a sigh of relief and endured the grief, so I came to the school to take the exam with us." Zeng Hongjun recalled that only the teachers knew the news of Chen Liang's father's death, but the students did not.

After the college entrance examination, Chen Liang immediately returned home to take care of the funeral for his father.

Currently, Chen Liang is doing summer work at a guesthouse in a scenic spot in Mianyang.

He wakes up at six in the morning and works until eight in the evening, washing, cutting and serving vegetables.

Zeng Hongjun said that Chen Liang hopes to raise the cost of going to university through part-time work.

In this year's college entrance examination, Chen Liang scored 433 points, 3 points higher than the Sichuan undergraduate course for science.

"If you perform normally, there is still no problem with a few minutes beyond the undergraduate course." When filling in their volunteers, Zeng Hongjun and Chen Liang considered comprehensively and felt that it would be safer to apply for a junior college.

"He still wants to get a college promotion in the future." Zeng Hongjun said.

After media reports, Chen Liang attracted attention, and many caring people contacted him, hoping to help.

"But Chen Liang was politely rejected. In fact, he has a strong self-esteem and feels that there is no need to accept these funding." Zeng Hongjun told The Paper.

"Thanks to all kind people, but I want to earn the tuition and living expenses for college with my own hands and labor, and I will work hard to repay the society..." Chen Liang also publicly responded to everyone's concerns when interviewed by the media.

On July 8, the relevant staff of the Student Financial Aid Management Center of Anzhou District, Mianyang City told The Paper, “After Chen Liang is admitted, the education department and school will have measures to solve his education problems and help him complete his studies.” Li Shunhong, director of the Student Financial Aid Management Center of Anzhou District, said that the student source loan can be loaned up to 8,000 yuan a year. In addition, you can also apply for "Golden Autumn Scholarship" for Chen Liang, with a funding amount of 2,000 to 3,000 yuan.

At the same time, they also plan to apply for social funding for him.
