Emergency.. Tokyo's weapon during the Olympics

In Asia, the Japanese government intends to declare a new state of emergency in Tokyo that will continue throughout the period of the Olympic Games, which will start in two weeks in the capital, to limit the spread of the Corona virus.

Public television NHK reported that the government decided to declare a fourth state of emergency in Tokyo and informed the country's ruling coalition of its decision.

Kyodo news agency quoted a senior government official as saying that the Olympics could be held without an audience.

In March, organizers banned spectators from outside, setting a precedent in the history of the Olympics.

Japan has remained relatively insulated from the epidemic compared to many other countries, as it has recorded about 14,000 official deaths since the beginning of the epidemic, but experts have warned that its health system may be destabilized with the Olympic Games.

About 11,000 athletes are expected to participate in these games, and organizers have imposed strict measures on all participants.
