"There is no need to violate the state border": the Kremlin responded to the statement of the British Foreign Ministry on ships in the Black Sea

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that attempts to illegally enter the Russian water area will not go unanswered.

He noted that the Russian side has repeatedly noted that it will take appropriate measures in the event of a violation of the state border at sea.

“Therefore, in this case, every time the Russian state border is violated, the measures that need to be taken will be taken,” said Peskov.

As the presidential press secretary said, the border guards will carry out the actions prescribed by them according to the instructions, "all diplomatic tools will also be used."

Talking about ways to avoid such incidents, Peskov noted that for this "it is simply not necessary to violate the state border of the Russian Federation."

Earlier, British Foreign Minister Dominic Raab, commenting on the incident with the destroyer Defender, said that the British Navy will continue to enter the "territorial waters of Ukraine."

“This is an internationally recognized traffic route.

We have every right to freely pass through the Ukrainian territorial waters in accordance with international law, ”RIA Novosti quoted Raab as saying.

Commenting on Raab's statement, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev noted that this is a situation where there can be no two opinions.

"Any entry into the Russian territorial waters without the consent of the Russian side of any ships of third countries will, firstly, be considered as a provocation, and secondly, it will receive an appropriate rebuff, taking into account the regime of protecting state borders and protecting the sovereignty of the Russian Federation," he said senator in an interview with an RT correspondent.

He added that this issue was "very clearly" identified by the President.

“I would not advise anyone to try to test our firm position on this issue for strength,” concluded Kosachev.

Destroyer incident

Recall that on June 23, the Black Sea Fleet and the FSB border service reacted to the violation of the Russian state border by the British destroyer Defender.

The ship, not responding to warnings, crossed the Russian state border and entered the territorial waters in the area of ​​Cape Fiolent for 3 km.

The Russian FSB has published a video of warning firing at the course of a British destroyer.

On the recording, you can hear how the border guards warn the ship's crew about the inadmissibility of violating the border and demand to change the course, after which they open warning fire.

Soon after the incident, the Kremlin called the actions of the British military a "deliberate provocation", noting that such activity does not comply with international law.

In addition, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Major General Igor Konashenkov, said that the "fiasco" with the destroyer Defender in the Black Sea will remain a stain on the reputation of the British fleet.

Later, Vladimir Putin spoke about the situation with the British ship.

The President called these events a provocation, which was being prepared not only by the British side, but also by the United States.

According to Putin, even before the immediate incident with the ship, an "American strategic reconnaissance aircraft" took off.

It was obvious that the destroyer had entered and, first of all, pursuing military objectives, trying to reveal the actions of our Armed Forces to suppress such provocations with the help of a reconnaissance aircraft, he looked at what, where we switched on, how it worked, where what was located.

Subsequently, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov also spoke about the intentions of the United States and Great Britain.

According to him, the United States and Britain, during the provocation with the destroyer Defender in the Black Sea, tried to open the Russian coastal defense system.

According to Ryabkov, Washington and London were aware of "the depth of the consequences and the severity of this kind of action."
