Israeli government study has found that the preventive efficacy of the Pfizer vaccine has significantly decreased since the advent of the delta mutation. Still, getting vaccinated is the most effective way to lower your risk of infection even a little. The British government decided to lift quarantine measures on the 19th despite the spread of the delta mutation.

According to statistics released by the Israeli Ministry of Health, from May 2 to June 5, the preventive efficacy of the Pfizer vaccine was 94.3%.

However, from June 6, when the delta mutation spread, to the 3rd of this month, the vaccine efficacy dropped to 64%.

Severe blocking efficacy was also reduced from 98.2% to 93%.

Israel has lifted quarantine measures, such as the mandatory wearing of masks, since June, but group infections have continued, centered on teenagers who have not been vaccinated.

90% of new cases are due to delta mutations.

"I am concerned that the vaccine appears to be less effective against the delta mutation," an Israeli health ministry official said.

Despite the spread of the delta mutation, the UK decided to drastically remove quarantine regulations on the 19th as scheduled.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced that he will lift quarantine measures such as the mandatory wearing of masks indoors and keeping a distance of at least 1m.

[Boris Johnson/Prime Minister of the United Kingdom: If we can't reopen society in a few weeks, we don't know when we can get back to normal.] There will be no

restrictions on the number of people in restaurants, theatres, sporting events and so on, and there are no recommendations to work from home.

Prime Minister Johnson said that he has decided to leave the quarantine measures to his own judgment rather than stipulated by law, and recommended that individuals act responsibly, such as continuing to wear masks in crowded indoor spaces.

The number of new infections per day in the UK is about 27,000, but on the 19th, when quarantine measures are lifted, it is expected to increase to 50,000, raising concerns.
