 "

Today we celebrate America

".

Celebrating America and its independence had a special taste this year.

For the American president who had promised an almost normal July 4, it was essential to mark the progress made since the start of the pandemic.

“

This year, July 4th is a more special celebration, as we emerge from the darkness of a year of pandemic and isolation.

A year of pain, fear and heartbreaking mourning.

We have come a long way!

 "

Speaking from the White House, Joe Biden also insisted the fight was not over.

I beg you, if you haven't already, go ahead."

For you, your loved ones, your community, for your homeland.

 "

Joe Biden had set a target of 70% of the population vaccinated for the national holiday, but this figure has stagnated for several weeks around 65%.

Some Americans remain reluctant to get vaccinated.

The president had however promised a July 4 with family picnics, gatherings.

And this Sunday, there were millions of them celebrating Independence Day as before, or almost.

Today, we see the results of the unity of purpose we are forging in our nation.

For together, we are beating this virus.

Together, we are breathing life into our economy.

And together, we will rescue our people from division and despair.
