A Philippine military transport plane crashed on Holo Island in southern Sulu province yesterday (4th), killing 47 of the 96 people on board and seriously injuring 49 people.



The Philippine military authorities said yesterday that a military transport plane crashed into a mountainous area while trying to land on the island alone around 11:30 p.m. yesterday.



Immediately after the accident, military authorities carried out rescue operations from the wreckage of the transport plane, found 50 survivors and transported them to a nearby military hospital, one of whom died while receiving treatment.



At the scene of the accident, rescue teams recovered 46 bodies after working all night.



Local media reported that three civilians near the crash site were also killed and four were seriously injured.
