"A criminal case has been initiated on the grounds of a crime under paragraph" c "of part 2 of article 238 of the Criminal Code of Russia (provision of services that do not meet the requirements of the safety of life and health of the consumer, resulting in the death of a person by negligence)," the Investigative Committee said in a statement.

According to the SK, the persons operating the freight cable-rail hoist did not register it with the technological supervision service and did not have permits.

"Not making sure that the driver left the car and the platform of the lift, and the car was properly parked and secured with brakes, they started lifting the vehicle," the department said.

During the ascent, the car began to move forward and rolled off the platform, fell on the roof and rolled down, they said.

The woman died from her injuries.

The incident took place on July 3 in the Elbrus region of Kabardino-Balkaria in the Adyr-Su gorge.

The dead was a journalist from the Stavropol Territory Natalya Mkhoyan.

The lift in the Adyr-Su gorge is built on a rock ledge, it makes it possible to lift cars and goods into the mountains.
