On July 4, the "Secret Land in Western Yunnan" was jointly organized by the Propaganda Department of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee, the Cyberspace Administration of the Provincial Party Committee, and COP15 (the Fifteenth Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity) Yunnan Provincial Preparatory Office and the Press and Propaganda Department. "Yunnan Biodiversity All-Media Theme Interview Tour" came to Dehong Fei's langur habitat.

The pheasant's langur is a national Class I protected wild animal. It is dressed in silver-gray hair and has large round eyes. The eye area is blue. Their hair is golden for three months after birth, and then gradually Turn gray.

According to reports, Philip's langurs have almost no "bad records" of damaging crops or other crops. They are known as the "modest gentleman" of the monkey world, and their cute appearance is very cute.

In January 2018, natural ecology photographer Zheng Shanhe discovered more than 300 pheasant langurs in Mang City, Dehong.

In May of the same year, a scientific investigation report on the habitat of Philippine's langurs in Mangshi by the Kunming Institute of Animals and Plants of the Chinese Academy of Sciences showed that there are 5 groups of about 320 pheian's langurs in this area, which is currently the largest domestically discovered leaf monkey in a single area Monkey population.

According to the staff, the general group of pheasant langurs will be divided into groups when they reach 30-40. The reason is that the environmental carrying capacity is limited. The population of pheasant langurs in Mangshi reaches hundreds, which shows the superiority of the local natural environment. It can provide enough living space and food to survive.

In order to protect this rare species, Dehong Prefecture has established a professional patrol team.

At present, Dehong Prefecture has installed network high-definition cameras, thermal imaging dual-spectrum network pan-tilt cameras and "Wisdom Online Observation of Wild Animals in Dehong Prefecture" in the habitat of Philip's langurs in Shuijing Village of Xuangang Township and Hexinchang of Mangshi Township .

Gong Qiangbang, an engineer from the Management and Protection Bureau of Tongbiguan Nature Reserve in Yunnan, told Chinanews.com: “At present, we have monitored the fixed activity areas of five species, including the Philippine langur and the hornbill, which can be clearly seen in the background. To the state of their activities. Specifically, the Phy's langurs have set up a total of two cameras and four cameras."

The discovery of Philip's langurs has also brought unexpected income to the local villagers.

In June 2019, the low-carbon ecological demonstration village project of the Fei's langur protected area in Mangshi was launched. The project was constructed by the Yunnan Green Environment Development Foundation with a donation of 2 million yuan. The project mainly carried out tree species transformation, under-forest economic development, energy conservation and emission reduction. The implementation of the project will effectively enhance the awareness of spontaneous protection of the villagers in the Fei's langur conservation area in Mangshi and reduce the villagers’ reliance on forest resources for life and production development.

A local staff member said: "After the discovery of the pheasant's langurs, eco-photography enthusiasts from all over the world came in droves, because the monkeys are not sure where they are, and local people are needed to guide, complete the steps and carry photographic equipment, etc., and the charge is about 200 yuan at a time. After a few months, several villagers I know have a per capita income of 40,000 yuan, which is quite impressive."

The reporter learned that for the protection of Philippine's langurs, social forces have also participated in the protection actions.

In October 2020, relevant companies and the Yunnan Green Development Foundation jointly established the Mangxing River Public Welfare Protection Area. 16 million netizens across the country have claimed "One Square Meter for Everyone" to protect their homes for Philip's langurs.

The protected area has also become a practice point for natural science education, and many surrounding schools have organized students to learn about pheasant langurs and learn natural knowledge.

Netizens who participated in the area claiming of the protected area of the Mangxing River came from all over the country to form monkey-watching groups, which promoted the development of local eco-tourism. As a result, the original ecological native products such as honey and dendrobium were sold outside the mountains.

A picture of people living in harmony with nature is unfolding in Mangshi.
