Montpellier airport inaugurated a screening center against Covid-19 on Friday.

The objective: to allow passengers who failed to board for lack of necessary health proofs to complete the procedures quickly, before a new departure.

REPORTAGE

You may be one of the lucky ones who are going on vacation at the beginning of July, by road or by plane. After difficult months, the airports are gradually seeing the return of travelers. But this year, health constraints remain numerous: the countries of destination require certain documents, such as tests or proof of vaccination as a health passport. To help passengers, Montpellier airport inaugurated a screening center on Friday, within Hall 1 of the terminal.

Alain and his children were unable to embark for Heraklion.

They did not have all the papers required by the Greek government and had to postpone their departure for a day.

They therefore urgently needed a new PCR test.

"My wife left. We stayed. We failed a flight for tomorrow," he explained to Europe 1. After sampling in the hall of the terminal, they will receive the results in 24 hours by SMS.

Facilitate the procedures for passengers

The objective, explains Emmanuel Bremer, the chairman of the management board of Montpellier airport, is to simplify the health procedures for passengers.

"Now, we will ask you for a health passport: either the vaccine or a test. Our desire, by setting up this center, is to offer this service to those who need it quickly," he argues. .

Ill-informed travelers

But for the head of the Eurofins laboratory, who is in charge of this screening center, many travelers are not sufficiently informed about the constraints imposed by the countries of destination.

He mentions in particular a customer who missed his flight to Casablanca: "Morocco does not accept antigenic tests. This person was not informed and came with a negative antigenic test which was not accepted by the airline company. , which failed him, "he reports.

"Find out so you don't get stuck at the airport."

When in doubt, he advises doing a PCR rather than an antigen test to be sure of being able to get on board.
