This year, RT projects have collected a record number of shortlists at the Cannes Lions international festival - five in various nominations.

The ceremony took place online after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Three different juries awarded four works of RT Creative Lab: the film "Lessons from Auschwitz" became a finalist in Digital Craft Lions (Sound Design) and Media Lions (Use of Branded Content Created for Digital or Social), AR book # Romanovs100 reached the final in Industry Craft Lions (Photography), and the entire #Winning Pages project became the only finalist in the Cross-channel Storytelling category in Digital Craft Lions.

Thus, RT became the only representative of Russia to be nominated for the last three "Cannes Lions" in a row with different works - in 2018-2021, RT collected nine shortlists.

This year, at the festival, which took place from June 21 to 25, almost 30 thousand of the best creative and advertising works from all over the world were presented, but less than 10% were included in the finalists.

About 400 works were submitted from Russia, of which only 24 were shortlisted, almost a quarter of which were created by RT - the channel became the leader in the number of nominations among Russian companies and agencies and bypassed the works of such Russian brands and agencies as RA Voskhod , Art. Lebedev Studio, Sberbank, Google Moscow, STS, Tele2, Rosbank, Beeline, S7 Airlines and many others.

RT Creative Lab projects have also been noted by many specialized media.

“Using innovative methods of volumetric filming and VR animation, the film pays tribute to the memory of the victims of the Holocaust in the language of new technologies and digital art in order to involve the younger generation in studying the history of the Holocaust and the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp,” Sostav.ru noted the RT film Lessons Auschwitz ".

"The documentary digital project #PagesVictory is positioned as" created by the young and for the young. "

Its goal is to tell the story of the Great Patriotic War through the prism of new media and digital art.

The RT Creative Lab team created unique content for five platforms on social networks Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, VKontakte and YouTube, ”writes the Adindex portal.

As the creative producer of RT Creative Lab Anna Fedorova noted, speaking at the event dedicated to the results of the Cannes Lions, RT projects allow revealing historical themes using the latest technologies.

She also stressed that when creating such materials, both the idea and the way of its implementation are equally important, which allows dialogue with the audience.

The RT Endless Letter project was created jointly with students of the RANEPA School of Design and graphic artists Mikhail Sorkin and Petr Bankov.

The project combines lines from frontline letters with illustrations based on them.

Another RT work, the VR documentary The Lessons of Auschwitz, was timed to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the largest Nazi death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau (Auschwitz) by Soviet troops.

Both projects were implemented as part of the large-scale multimedia project RT # Pages of Victory, which tells the story of the Great Patriotic War through the prism of new media and digital art on five platforms: Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, VKontakte and YouTube.

#Winning Pages have already received international awards Webby Awards, Promax Europe Awards, D&AD (Design and Art Direction), ADC Awards, Shorty Awards, Lovie Awards, Red Dot, Digiday and others.

RT's multimedia projects have made it to the finals of the Cannes Lions competition four times.

In 2019, the shortlist included the RT # Romanovs100 project, timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the execution of the royal family.

A year earlier, the international Twitter project RT # 1917LIVE, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the revolution in Russia, became the finalist of the competition in three categories.

In June, RT also made it to the finals of the prestigious international television competition New York Festivals in 23 nominations.

The video, in which RT recreated the moment of the historical snapshot of the hoisting of the Victory Banner over the Reichstag in 1945, became a finalist in the nomination "Promo for a documentary / news program".

The documentary YouTube-series RT "The ABC of Victory: From Brest to the Reichstag" reached the final of the award in two categories: "Documentary" and "History and Society".

Cannes Lions is one of the most prestigious international advertising festivals, the jury of the competition includes representatives of the largest brands and advertising agencies from all over the world.
