His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, witnessed the graduation of a group of entrepreneurs as part of the first batch of the "Startup Development Program" at the Higher Colleges of Technology, which comes in response to the initiative to transform higher education institutions into business incubators. It allows students to engage in economic and creative activity, and contributes to graduating qualified “companies” and entrepreneurs according to the best standards, to support the national economy during the next stage, with innovative ideas and advanced visions that meet the needs of the future.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, during his briefing on the projects of emerging companies, stressed that "providing students and youth with skills and tools for entrepreneurship is of great importance within the directions of the state, as they are a wealth and a national investment for the future." His Highness was briefed on a number of the most important projects and companies within the program, and heard from graduates and entrepreneurs, the achievements of these companies in various sectors, which varied between technology, health, education, and other pivotal sectors.

During the last phase, the Higher Colleges of Technology established three creative business incubators to serve as business incubators that meet the needs of students. The Startup Development Program was launched in 2019, and since then it has achieved remarkable successes, represented in the participation of 2316 students, and the launch of 108 startup companies. The program witnessed a remarkable attendance of female students, as they were in the leadership of 50% of these companies.

These start-ups are active in many economic sectors, including electronic markets, cyber security, agricultural technology, 3D printing health solutions, automated delivery systems, and professional services.
