His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, witnessed the graduation of a group of entrepreneurs as part of the first batch of the "Startup Development Program" at the Higher Colleges of Technology, which comes in response to the initiative to transform higher education institutions into business incubators. It allows students to engage in economic and creative activity, and contributes to graduating qualified “companies” and entrepreneurs according to the best standards, to support the national economy during the next stage, with innovative ideas and advanced visions that meet the needs of the future.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, during his briefing on the projects of emerging companies, stressed that "providing students and youth with skills and tools for entrepreneurship is of great importance within the directions of the state, as they are a wealth and a national investment for the future." His Highness said: "Our investment in youth is the spirit of Our renaissance..a basis for our future..and the engine to keep pace with developments around us.”
His Highness also stressed that the UAE is making continuous efforts to promote entrepreneurship at all levels, especially in higher education institutions, which constitute the last stage before male and female students enter the labor market. This is part of its daily strategies and plans.”
His Highness was briefed on a number of the most important projects and companies within the program, and heard from graduates and entrepreneurs, the achievements of these companies in various sectors, which varied between technology, health, education, and other pivotal sectors.
During the last phase, the Higher Colleges of Technology established three creative business incubators to serve as business incubators that meet the needs of students. The Startup Development Program was launched in 2019, and since then it has achieved remarkable successes, represented in the participation of 2316 students, and the launch of 108 startup companies. The program witnessed a remarkable attendance of female students, as they were in the leadership of 50% of these companies.
These start-ups are active in many economic sectors, including electronic markets, cyber security, agricultural technology, 3D printing health solutions, automated delivery systems, and professional services.
The Startup Development Program constitutes an important and vital axis within the initiative of creative business incubators in higher education institutions, within an integrated approach formulated by the UAE government to shape the future of vital sectors in the country, with the aim of defining frameworks and strategic plans to keep pace with national and global economic changes, and adopting a forward-looking vision to improve the role of talent and preparing young women, and providing the necessary tools to empower them, enhance their contribution to development, and encourage them to adopt a culture of entrepreneurship.
The initiatives aim to achieve a set of strategic goals, which revolve around supporting entrepreneurship among students in higher education institutions, through innovative ways and means based on integrating educational outputs with business establishment and management skills, with a focus on employing modern technologies to ensure students’ entry into the national economic system. and the world, according to solid and solid foundations that guarantee their existence and continuity.

Promising startups
Since 2019, 108 companies have been launched under the Startup Development Program. A large group of these companies have specialized in promising fields that support the country's march in adopting economic patterns in specialized fields, which rely heavily on modern technology.
Among these companies, 3D Printing and Design is the first company in the UAE to provide consultancy services on energy consumption in buildings designed with 3D printing technology.
In the same context, Additive Health 3D Printing Solutions specializes in healthcare, with the aim of making a quantum leap by providing 3D-printed models, prosthetic limbs, splints, and many rehabilitation devices.
As for "Cyber Hero", it provides a set of services related to electronic security, information technology and communications, in order to familiarize users with potential threats and risks to information and data in any organization and how to avoid them.
Drones is a provider of smart drone solutions, which are being used by many parties in various fields, and the company has developed a firefighting aircraft that can reach dangerous places, to support firefighting and rescue operations.
e-waste specializes in managing and collecting e-waste, by building a link between e-waste consumers and recyclers, with the aim of contributing to environmental sustainability.
The Hive also provides educational and training services to students, as a training institute that cooperates with a number of specialized training companies, to meet the training and guidance needs of students in various disciplines.
