• A rally in tribute to a young woman killed with a knife on Friday was organized this Sunday in Bordeaux.

  • The parents of the victim say they lived with their daughter for several months, in fear of their ex-son-in-law who was still lurking in the area.

  • They would like to recover as quickly as possible the custody of their four-year-old granddaughter, placed within the social services of the department.

"We had made this banner for Chahinez (burnt alive in Mérignac last May) but we did not know that it was going to be used again so quickly" laments Laurence Laborde, member of the feminist collective, who holds one of the sides of the black cloth where the it reads “Not one more”. She participates with many friends, neighbors and feminist activists in the rally organized this Sunday in memory of Sandra, a 31-year-old young woman who was stabbed on Friday. Her ex-spouse who harassed her was referred this Sunday at noon before the prosecution for the opening of a judicial investigation of the count of murder by a person being or having been a spouse. Catherine Fabre, LREM deputy for Gironde and the mayor of Bordeaux Pierre Hurmic (EELV) participated in the rally.

Many bouquets were placed on the portal of the stall where the young woman lived with her four-year-old daughter and small candles were also lit on the window sill.

“Her cushion remained in the car parked in front, she doesn't sleep without…” her grandmother laments.

When they learned of the death of their daughter, the grandparents arrived from Valencia, where they live, at full speed.

The couple's child was taken care of on the day of the incident by the social services of the Gironde Departmental Council, by order of provisional placement from the public prosecutor's office.

Desperate not to have him already with them, they hope to get his custody soon.

"She wanted to do according to the law"

Sandra's parents, worried about their daughter, stayed from January to May locked up with her and the little one. They say they were scared because their daughter's ex was constantly around. “He was followed, the neighbors also had complained, everyone knew she was threatened. It's a moment of contemplation but there is also anger, ”points out Laurence Laborde. "He should have been more supervised and my daughter more protected," said Sandra's father. "She wanted to do according to the law and he overwhelmed her, that's what it gives", laments her mother, devastated.

"Undersized resources, in Gironde and throughout France," notes Nicole Blet, treasurer of family planning in Bordeaux.

Just an example, in France there are about a hundred "serious danger" telephones and there are approximately 225,000 victims of violence per year.

She also wonders about the reasons why the victim's ex-spouse was not the subject of a protection order, which makes it possible to contact the police as soon as the one referred to by the order. violated.

Long minutes of silence were observed by the small crowd before a family member invited the gathering to disperse, assuring that "the fight for Sandra" continued.
