In the mayoral election in Heusenstamm on Sunday, Steffen Ball from the CDU defeated incumbent Halil Öztas from the SPD.

Ball received 59.53 percent of the vote, Halil got 40.47.

The turnout was 52.9 percent; in the 2015 runoff election, 47 percent of those eligible to vote took part.

At that time, Öztas was surprisingly able to prevail against the CDU candidate Uwe Giebl and became the first social democratic mayor in Heusenstamm since the establishment of the Federal Republic.

Now a Christian Democrat takes the helm again, election winner Ball entered the city council for the first time in the local elections in March.

To go into politics, he withdrew from the management of his communications agency Ballcom, which he founded in 2003, with which he, according to his own admission, advised municipalities on issues of urban development and citizen participation, companies on digital future issues and associations.

Ball is married and has one son.
