An Arab country records a temperature approaching “boiling”

Kuwait City recorded a temperature approaching "boiling", in light of the heat wave that hit many countries in the Arab world, as it was considered the highest temperature ever recorded.

According to Al-Rai newspaper, the official in the Kuwait Meteorological Department Abdulaziz Al-Qarawi said: "The temperature under the sun's rays ranged, yesterday, Friday, between 65 and 70 degrees Celsius."

In statements to the press, he added that the temperature during the past days reached 53.5 degrees Celsius in the shade in some areas of Kuwait.

Al-Qarawi explained that “the readings and recording of the temperature are taken globally according to a unified mechanism, which is the measurement of the air temperature in the shade.”

He pointed out that "the temperature under the sun's rays, which can be read from car devices and other devices, ranged between 65 and 70 degrees Celsius, and it is expected that the temperature will drop to its normal levels on Sunday, ranging between 48 and 49 degrees Celsius."

According to the newspaper, governorates in Kuwait, including Salwa and Jahra, lost electricity, amid calls by the Ministry of Electricity to rationalize the consumption of electrical energy.
