Now, four people in Norrbotten have been found to have been affected by Delta, but the three new cases are considered to have most likely increased the spread of infection more than that.

Fourth wave this fall

- We will not escape Delta in Norrbotten, we do not do it, but if we are careful and follow our basic recommendations, we can probably slow down the spread considerably, says infection control doctor Anders Nystedt.

He believes that the Delta virus will take over the spread of infection completely, also in Norrbotten.

- I believe in a fourth wave that will not be as big as the others.

I hope it will not come until this autumn when so many have received their two vaccine doses and then not many will get sick either. It will probably not have such major consequences in healthcare with mortality and other things, says Anders Nystedt.

"Naturally vaccinated"

He also believes that a third dose of vaccine may be needed due to the Delta virus, but he is not so sure about it anymore.

- Probably so, but it can also be the case that this mutation will jump around among us who have been vaccinated twice and we will then be a little naturally vaccinated even from the real infection.

We do not get very ill, but our immune system gets an extra push from it, says Anders Nystedt.
