No less than four million people are expected on the roads of France on Saturday for this first weekend of departure on vacation.

On the highways, the traffic information centers are heavily mobilized.

Their objective: that the Juillettistes arrive without incident on their holiday resort.

REPORTAGE

First big weekend of departures on vacation.

Bison Futé sees orange everywhere in France, and red in Ile-de-France in the direction of departures.

It is recommended that you leave the Paris region before 8 a.m.

This weekend, no less than four million people are expected on the highways, double a normal weekend.

To ensure the safety of holidaymakers, it is therefore necessary to increase network surveillance, as is the case at the Mandelieu traffic information center, in the Alpes-Maritimes, where Europe 1 visited.

On the Brittany side, still very popular this year, the juillettists are finally settling down.

After a tiring journey, vacationers can finally enjoy the great outdoors, to the delight of tourism professionals who note an increase in numbers compared to 2019.

"Make road users safe"

This is where all the information goes.

"Here, we have the possibility to see all the cameras of our network", explains Alain Greci, person in charge of the PC Vinci Autoroutes.

"There are about a thousand of them."

For this first weekend of major departures, the workforce has been doubled: 1,200 agents are mobilized across the entire Vinci Autoroutes network in the South of France. "The most recurring missions for our men and women in yellow are first of all to assist potentially broken down vehicles, manage accidents, make motorway users safe", lists Arnaud de Menou, manager communication. "And also, too often on these vacation departures, to pick up objects that have fallen from a car".

It will therefore be necessary to ensure that your load is properly secured before setting off, but also to slow down and move away when approaching a stationary vehicle.

Nothing should be left to chance.

"A vehicle stopped on the emergency lane, it can be a trivial event, but it is dangerous".

At the end of the road, the great outdoors

After a journey of several hours, the feeling of lightness.

Finally.

Juillettists arrive at their holiday resort and take up their summer quarters, as in Morbihan in Brittany, where Europe 1 has visited. Almost 10% of holidaymakers plan to visit this region on the occasion of the summer 2021.

At the reception of the campsite, the information seemed clear, but once back in the van, after several hours on the road, fatigue is felt in Sarah and her husband, David.

At the end of one of the alleys, a small corner of green awaits them, on which they will have to settle.

Their 8-year-old son Johann is delighted: he has already spotted the swimming pool and the children's games.

The holidays can finally start.

This weekend, the Le Conleau campsite is already almost full, to the delight of its boss, Sandrine Perret.

"Beyond the weekend, the season promises to be very, very good", she enthuses at the microphone of Europe 1. "We exceed the figures for 2019 for the moment", adds- she, specifying that the Covid-19 has revitalized holidays in France, but also those in camping in the fresh air.
