A few hundred meters away from the crime scene, there was about 30 years ago, a local police station, says Ulf Boström.

- There were local neighborhood police stations in principle in all of Gothenburg's suburbs.

The people knew their neighborhood cops and the cops knew the families, the children, the schools and the youth centers.

- They were involved in strengthening security and trust in society, Ulf Boström.

"It created trust"

According to Ulf Boström, the police's previous way of working was preferable when working close to the people in areas.

He believes that it strengthened both security and trust in society.

- But since they disappeared, security and trust have been seriously eroded in Gothenburg and our entire country, says Ulf Boström in SVT's Morgonstudion.

Would you say, if it had continued that way, this would not have happened then?

- What I know is that this development of violence we have had in our country over the past 30 years, it would have been significantly lower, says Ulf Boström.
