Thousands of people, men, women, young and old from all social backgrounds have responded to the appeal of opposition parties and civil society organizations and marched in the streets of Ouagadougou.

We could read on the signs and banners: "

Is there a president in Burkina Faso?"

 ","

Save our country

 "or"

Stop the massacre

 ".

It was at a run that the demonstrators completed the planned circuit in less than an hour.

Call for the organization of general security meetings

In his message to the demonstrators, Eddie Komboïgo, leader of the opposition, recalled that the populations decided to demonstrate to protest against the worsening security situation in the country.

He urgently called for adequate equipment for the defense and security forces.

The leader of the opposition calls for the organization of the States General of security.

Eddie Komboïgo and his comrades say they are available to participate.

He also wonders about the usefulness of the presence of foreign forces in Burkina Faso if the latter are not able to place their surveillance equipment at the disposal of the Burkinabè army.

A protester also tried to burn a French flag but was prevented from doing so.

The flag was eventually handed over to the security forces.

Some of the demonstrators wanted the release of the soldiers in prison since the 2015 coup d'état. Among them is General Gilbert Dienderé, the man who was at the heart of the security system when Blaise Compaoré ruled the country.
