Former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol said today (2nd) regarding the first trial judgment against his mother-in-law Choi, "As I have emphasized in the past, it is my belief that there are no exceptions to the application of the law."

Former President Yoon expressed this position through a spokesperson today immediately after Choi was sentenced to three years in prison for illegal receipt of medical care benefits and was detained in court.

At a press conference for the presidential election on the 29th of last month, former President Yoon said, "There should be no exceptions to investigations, trials, and the application of laws, regardless of my relatives or people of any position."

Meanwhile, Choi's lawyer, Sohn Kyung-sik, said in a statement distributed to the media, "I do not think the judgment of the first trial court is in accordance with the evidence and the law."

A spokesperson for the former president's camp said, "There is no separate position."
