• Xavier Bertrand was reelected this Friday at the head of Hauts-de-France by a large majority of regional advisers.

  • The RN has 32 seats and the union of the left and environmentalists has 28 seats.

  • No scoop in his installation speech, which takes point by point the broad outlines of his campaign.

It's gone again, but for how long? This Friday morning, Xavier Bertrand (DVD) was logically reelected at the head of the Hauts-de-France regional council. The vote of the assembly therefore followed that of the voters, not surprisingly. The other two unfortunate candidates of the second round, Karima Delli (Union de la gauche) and Sébastien Chenu (RN), took note of the vote, one a beautiful player, the other a little less.

Out of an assembly made up of 170 regional councilors, 110 voted for Xavier Bertrand, 32 for Sébastien Chenu and 28 for Karima Delli.

Each group thus voted for its chapel.

With this very large majority, the one who succeeds himself still greeted in his own way the new trends installed: "Finally there will be another sound of bell in the hemicycle", welcomed Xavier Bertrand to the advisers of the united left and environmentalists.

Between "constructive" opposition and "patriotic conscience"

An opening appreciated by Karima Delli, who in return congratulated the president on his re-election while affirming that his group would constitute "a resolute opposition, uncompromising but at least constructive and always concerned with the general interest".

Sébastien Chenu, he always had the bitter defeat: “With 67% of abstention, this notion of success is quite relative, he recalled.

We are your first opposition.

We will be the social and patriotic conscience of this assembly.

"

For his part, in his speech of installations, Xavier Bertrand did not deviate from a line of his campaign program.

Still "starved" on the issue of employment, he announced that he wanted to "strengthen Proch'Emploi", a device "denigrated" but effective according to him.

The president of the region recalled that this mandate “will be that of the Seine-Nord canal and the Hauts-de-France express network”.

He also assured that he had for objective the establishment of a third "giga factory of batteries".

A speech after all much more local than the one delivered on Sunday evening, which sounded more like a campaign entry for the presidential elections.

To the inhabitants of Hauts-de-France, Xavier Bertrand assured that he would be "worthy of their trust".

And for that, the president of the region was still entitled to a half-standing ovation.
