• A police officer in his 30s was shot in Biskopsgården in Gothenburg on Wednesday evening.

The police were taken to hospital and died of their injuries during the night.

• The police were working together with a colleague in Biskopsgården when the shooting occurred.

• According to police information, the policeman was shot while standing and talking to some people.

According to Erik Nord, head of the Greater Gothenburg Police Area, they worked with ongoing line work that focuses on the conflicts in the area.

So they were not in place for a special operation.

• The motive behind the shooting is unclear.

But the police currently believe that the policeman may have ended up in the gunfire even though he was not really the target.
