Kiruna and Luleå will have direct flights to Stuttgart this winter

The low-cost airline Eurowings, which is affiliated with the Lufthansa Group, is behind the route.

There will be one trip a week from Kiruna and two trips a week from Luleå between 4 December and the end of March.

It is thus the winter in Norrbotten that is believed to attract German tourists.

According to a press release from the airport operator Swedavia, the number of German tourists in northern Sweden has increased by 40 percent between 2013-2019.

The flight after the pandemic

What the journey will look like after the pandemic remains to be seen.

- If we look six months ahead towards the winter, we see positive indications that something is starting to happen in the industry, says Andreas Fredriksson, airport manager at Kiruna Ariport.

Charter lines for incoming tourists are not unusual for Norrbotten.

However, this line will be available for departures.
