A twelve-year-old mountain biker slipped on a rain-soaked forest floor in Darmstadt and was seriously injured.

The boy hit his head on a tree root and lost consciousness, the police said on Friday.

He wore a helmet.

The young cyclist was riding a mountain bike trail on Thursday when he lost control of his bike and fell.

He was taken to a hospital, where a police spokesman said he remained on Friday.

Fulda

After a truck accident on the Autobahn 4 between Bad Hersfeld and the Kirchheimer Dreieck, around 600 liters of diesel spilled onto the road. The A4 in the direction of Kirchheim was closed due to the cleaning work, as the police announced on Thursday evening. For unexplained reasons, the truck went off the lane, hit the central guardrail and ultimately collided with a pickup truck. The truck's fuel tank tore open. Subsequent vehicles then distributed the fuel even further on the roadway. The 62-year-old driver got away with minor injuries.

Viernheim

After an ATM blown up in a shopping center in Viernheim, emergency services used a police helicopter to search for the perpetrators at times. Three strangers with hooded shirts are said to have fled in a car on the highway early Friday morning, the police said on Friday. Accordingly, they first forcibly gained access to the shopping center, where they blew up the machine. This was badly damaged by the detonation, and property damage also occurred to the surrounding shops. It was initially unclear on Friday whether the perpetrators were stealing money. The search for them continued.

Bad Hersfeld.

A 50-year-old truck driver got off the road on the Autobahn 7 near Bad Hersfeld (Hersfeld-Rotenburg district) in the direction of Fulda on Thursday and hit a concrete crash barrier. Heavy rain and excessive speed led to the accident, the police said on Thursday morning. The man was therefore unharmed. According to the police, the accident on Wednesday evening resulted in property damage of around 130,000 euros.

The truck's tank was torn open as a result of the impact, and 200 liters of diesel fuel seeped into the adjacent flood ditch. The fire brigade is said to have pumped out another 600 liters of fuel. The tractor-trailer was no longer ready to drive. In addition, the concrete protective wall was damaged over a length of ten meters. The right-hand lane was closed for about two hours at the level of the accident site.

Bad Homburg.

A 25-year-old truck driver got off the road on the Autobahn 5 near Bad Homburg (Hochtaunuskreis) in the direction of Kassel and crashed into the central barrier. Heavy rain and excessive speed had initially led to the accident, as the police announced on Thursday morning. The young man was therefore unharmed. According to the police, the accident during the night caused "property damage in the six-figure range". Both the tractor-trailer and the guardrail were badly damaged.
