All in all, Fraport is assuming a low three-digit number of new hires.

First, the company approached former employees of Fraport AG, whose temporary contracts had not been extended due to the crisis.

    Volume spikes as the reason

In the ground handling division, the group employs around 6,300 men and women in the parent company Fraport and the subsidiary FraGround.

According to the information, the current personnel requirements are due to the fact that at certain times of the day due to the numerous bookings with the airlines there would be volume peaks, as they were last seen in Frankfurt in the record year 2019.

Overall, however, the number of passengers in Frankfurt is only 30 to 40 percent of the level in the pre-crisis year 2019. At that time, Frankfurt recorded a new high with a total of 70 million passengers, before the traffic volume increased by up to in the following year as a result of the corona pandemic 90 percent collapsed.
