- It feels shocking.

The church premises are completely demolished.

I have a hard time understanding who did this, says Gerth Thorstensson who is pastor of Målilla's free church parish.

There is still a smell of fire smoke inside Målilla's free church.

Inside a room that is normally used by children who can play and do things, there is a pile of charred paper in the middle of the floor.

- Those who were in here also lit the fire, but thankfully the fire did not catch on, says Gerth Thorstensson and gently pokes his foot in the ash heap.

Messy and broken

Wherever he shows us around the church premises, it is smashed or overturned.

In the large assembly hall, the large altar cross lies on the floor in a mess together with the parish piano and overturned chairs.

- It is difficult to know if this can be used again, says Gerth and looks at the piano parts lying on the floor.

Faith Hope and Love

Gerth, who shows around, is gathered but taken by the vandalism that was discovered at 6 pm on Tuesday. He has a hard time understanding who or why someone or someone broke into the church, in order to break up.

- It is shocking, deplorable and difficult to understand who can imagine doing this.

How does this affect your business?

- We can not be in this room, but we will continue with undiminished power to spread faith, hope and love.

The police have carried out a crime scene investigation and classify the incident as vandalism.
