It was at Jomo Kenyatta Airport in Nairobi that Nnamdi Kanu was reportedly arrested.
According to his brother, Kingsley Kanunta Kanu, the separatist leader was even kidnapped by unknown men and forcibly returned to Nigeria.
A kidnapping that he described as an “extrajudicial transfer” in violation of international law.

Especially since no extradition request was made to the authorities for the transfer of the independence leader to Abuja.
His relatives also find it difficult to understand why Nigeria arrested him while Kanu was traveling on a British passport.
Some point to the responsibility of the Kenyan authorities who would have turned a blind eye to his arrest.
They recall that a similar case already took place in Kenya last May,
where the nephew of Fethullah Gülen
, the bête noire of the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, was captured by Turkish spies.
Incarcerated on Tuesday, Kanu awaits trial for terrorism on July 26th.
His relatives have already called for an end to his "illegal detention" and say they are worried about the fate that awaits him in prison.
