Franck Cottard, school teacher and former mayor of Etretat (Seine-Maritime), was sentenced this Monday by the judicial court of Le Havre.

He was accused of sexual assault on several minors under the age of 15 at the material time.

Six victims found among his former students

In 2018, while the 61-year-old was teaching elementary schools, the parents of an 11-year-old schoolgirl lodged a complaint against him.

Arrested in June 2018, he admitted part of the facts during his hearing by the gendarmes but affirmed that the girl, schooled in CM2, was the only one concerned.

The investigation and investigation finally lasted three years, making it possible to identify six victims among the former students of Franck Cottard, who was mayor of Etretat between 2008 and 2016. Three of them finally lodged a complaint for touching. sex on a minor and became civil parties to the trial.

The National Education had suspended the 60-year-old in 2018 at the start of the investigation.

In addition to his sentence, the man will have to comply with an obligation of care and will have to compensate the victims.
