Creating a work permit for golden residency holders in the private sector

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced the start of issuing work permits for holders of golden residency, in implementation of a decision issued by the Council of Ministers, according to which a "work permit for holders of golden residency" was created.

The ministry explained that the aforementioned permit is granted for three cases, the first of which includes those who were not working at the time of obtaining the golden residency, in the event that they wish to work for an employer, and the second case includes the desire of the current employer to renew the work permit and contract for the holders of the golden residency after the expiry of the period of their work permit. The third case includes the worker who obtained the golden residency joining a new job with another employer.

The ministry also made it clear that the same procedures followed by it related to the issuance of work permits and contracts for those who are on the residency of their relatives in the event they join work on the "work permit for golden residency holders."

The ministry indicated that work permits and valid contracts concluded between employers and workers who have been granted golden residency, as well as the validity of all applicable legislation in the country, especially the provisions of the Labor Law when they join employers in the private sector, remain in force.

She clarified that the same prescribed and applicable fees for work permits for those outside the country will apply, in addition to the validity of the same prescribed and applicable fees for renewing and amending work permits and contracts, when renewing or amending the work contract and work permit for golden residency holders.
