Haiwai.com, June 29. According to Taiwan’s “Central News Agency” on the 29th, following the expiration of the endorsements of the 7 staff of the “Taipei Economic and Cultural Office” stationed in Hong Kong and returning to Taiwan, the Mainland Affairs Council of Taiwan stated that the “Taipei Economic and Cultural Office” stationed in Macau Chen Jiahong, acting director of the office, also returned to Taiwan on the 27th due to the expiration of his endorsement. At present, there are only 4 Taiwanese dispatched personnel in the office.

On June 16, the Macao Special Administrative Region Government issued an announcement stating that the Macao Economic and Cultural Office in Taiwan will be suspended from June 19. During the suspension period, the 24-hour hotline set up by the Tourism Bureau will handle general inquiries.

The Macau SAR government stated that starting from December 2011, based on the common political foundation that both sides of the strait agree on the "92 Consensus", Macao and Taiwan have reached a consensus to establish mutual offices through exchanges of letters, and the offices of the two sides will carry out related businesses accordingly.

However, the renewal of the certificates of the staff of the Macao Economic and Cultural Office in Taiwan and the application of new rotation staff to Taiwan have not been approved so far, and the office has to suspend operations.

The Macau SAR Government stated that it will continue to handle matters related to Australia-Taiwan relations in accordance with the Basic Law, the One China Principle, and the central government's basic principles and policies for handling Macau-Taiwan-related issues, continue to promote non-governmental exchanges between Australia and Taiwan, and deepen non-governmental exchanges and cooperation between Australia and Taiwan.
