Clashes erupted between forces of the Israeli occupation army and the residents of Al-Bustan neighborhood in Silwan in occupied Jerusalem, after the start of demolitions after the expiry of the deadline for Palestinians to carry out self-demolition.

More than 20 families in Al-Bustan neighborhood in Silwan town received demolition orders under the pretext of building without a permit.

This operation opens the door for the demolition of dozens of homes, as about 70 homes in Silwan are threatened with demolition.

The Palestinians did not stand idly by in the face of the demolition of their homes and shops;

Rather, they responded with full force to the occupation soldiers, who secured the demolition of a shop belonging to the Rajabi family in the Al-Bustan neighborhood of Silwan in occupied Jerusalem.

injuries

The Palestinian Red Crescent in Jerusalem said that the confrontations in the neighborhood left 13 injured, and the journalists were also not spared from the Israeli attacks.

And the occupation forces demolished - this morning, Tuesday, by bulldozers - a shop in the Al-Bustan neighborhood and a three-storey house in Al-Saih neighborhood in Silwan, the southern gate of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Al-Jazeera correspondent, Elias Karam, said that the people had gathered for hours this morning, Tuesday, and confronted the Israeli soldiers who secured the bulldozers, adding that the occupation soldiers deliberately attacked the journalists, noting that the soldiers being beaten by the protesters explains the reaction towards the journalists, who were They cover the intrusion process.

Al-Jazeera correspondent stated that through this process, the occupation forces wanted to test the Palestinians' reactions to the demolitions, noting that the residents of the Al-Bustan neighborhood in Silwan responded strongly to the incursion.

Fakhri Abu Diab, a member of the People's Committee for the Defense of Silwan, said, "We will not be an excuse for the occupation. The response of the residents in Silwan (intended to hit the soldiers) is a response in which the residents confirm that the demolition will not pass without a confrontation and response."

It seems that the demolition comes to test the reactions of the Palestinians, the day after the deadline for the demolition of 13 houses in the neighborhood and the displacement of its residents expired.

The Palestinians say that they will never raise the white flag in it, because it is not only a matter of defending their homes;

Rather, they are in Jerusalem.

Hamas warns

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) called on mediators to take action to stop the Israeli occupation's attacks on the residents of the occupied city of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Hamas spokesman Muhammad Hamada said - in a statement - that the occupation's encroachment and storming of the Al-Bustan neighborhood in Silwan is a new transgression of red lines, and an absurdity whose consequences are unknown.

He stressed that the resistance is attentive and alert to what the occupation is doing in Jerusalem, and that the resistance's options in response are open and all of them are subject to study and implementation.

In the same context, the Islamic Jihad movement held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for what is happening in the Al-Bustan neighborhood and all neighborhoods of the occupied city of Jerusalem.

The movement added that the resistance is ready to confront any Israeli aggression, and the escalation taking place in Jerusalem affects the rules of engagement, and threatens to explode the conflict.

Weeks ago, the Israeli Central Court in occupied Jerusalem postponed the consideration of the appeal submitted against the decision to displace two Palestinian families from the Silwan suburb.

At that time, the court decided to postpone the decision on the appeal submitted against the decision to displace the Abu Nab and Ghaith families from the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood in Silwan - the southern garrison of Al-Aqsa Mosque - until next July 5.

Prior to the postponement decision, the occupation forces suppressed a protest sit-in for the residents of Batn al-Hawa neighborhood in front of the court, and arrested a number of participants.

The deportation threatens about 750 Palestinians in Batn al-Hawa, claiming that the land on which it is built historically belongs to the Jews.
