This is the assessment that the County Administrative Board of Jämtland County has now decided on.
The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency makes the same interpretation.
This means that electric cycling on state reindeer grazing is not allowed.
Anyone who wants to use their electric bicycle on such land will have to apply for a special permit from the county administrative board.
It now remains to be seen whether the county administrative boards in the other mountain counties will also make the same assessment as they did in Jämtland County.
Increased interference and increased wear
The background is that the number of visitors with electric bicycles has increased in the mountains, with increased wear and tear and increased disruption to reindeer husbandry and outdoor life as a result.
The County Administrative Board states that it wants to protect the outdoor life under public law in front of the motorized outdoor life.
