Good evening,

A truck is parked on the actually closed Salzbachtalbrücke. A new one. More precisely, a special vehicle that is used to control bridge damage. The vehicle, worth half a million euros, completed its first mission on the bridge. The workers left it there after work. That was that Friday when it was decided to close the bridge. Now it is still parked there. And must no longer be moved. Even more: the truck is to be blown up together with the bridge. The engineers warn against simply getting in and driving the vehicle off the damaged bridge. The change in load could have a further influence on the statistics. This story is so absurd that you can't make it up.Our author Oliver Bock knows whether there is still hope for the brand new vehicle or whether its first use will actually be its last.

    Traffic is one of the main topics in tomorrow's issue of the FAZ - always linked to the question of how travel times can be shortened and bottlenecks avoided. Deutsche Bahn has now presented a feasibility study which has come to the conclusion that a long-distance railway tunnel under Frankfurt city center is generally feasible. According to the plan, two additional tracks are to be built underground. This makes it possible to have 1500 instead of 1250 trains stop in Frankfurt every day. But it could be years before work actually begins. Even decades until completion. Manfred Köhler, who presented the study, already expressed a wish in the direction of the railways at the editorial conference: “The main thing is barrier-free!”. Because up to the possible completion he will, with all optimism,be at an advanced age.

    Optimism is probably the term that has borne many through the past few months. But sometimes optimism is not enough. A professor's representative, a trade unionist and a student spokeswoman evaluated the corona management at Hesse's universities. The result - in school grades - is a three plus. Somehow, completely satisfactory sounds better. University editor Sascha Zoske initiated this small survey and immediately asked about the respondents' wishes for the winter semester. According to the stakeholders, the credit for errors that was initially granted to crisis management has now largely been used up. A topic that is particularly preoccupying: the performance certificates.According to the respondents' request, there should be fixed rules for the test subjects even under corona conditions. There is also a call for better crisis communication and basic funding for digitization issues.

    In addition, Messe Frankfurt reports a loss of 122 million euros +++ Bishop Georg Bätzing inaugurated a new church in Goldstein;

    the “Erlebniskirche” St. Johannes is intended to appeal to new target groups +++ Mozart's opera “La finta giardiniera” is staged as a tabloid comedy in Mainz.

    Keep a cool head despite the temperatures,
