There is already a paddle hall at the golf club in Piteå, one at Pite havsbad and another in the tennis club's premises.

Another hall is now being built at Bergsviksbron, right on the shore of the Piteå river, and it is PDL group which is partly owned by the artist Måns Zelmerlöw and the tennis player Jonas Björkman, who is behind the construction.

The hall will be 3,000 square meters in size and will accommodate eight courses and a single course.

Draws on a fifth paddle hall

Another hall is at the "drawing stage" and will be built on Berget, between Acusticum and the municipality's IT department.

When the shovel is put in the ground is not decided, but the hope is that it will be ready in a year.

Behind the establishment is the Stockholm-based company GretaBo in collaboration with Piteå municipality.

The hall to be built on Berget will be approximately 5,500 square meters in size and will house eight paddle courts, a café, workplaces and a gym.

- So there is paddle fever, not only in Piteå but in all of Sweden.

Up to 8,000 active paddle players are rumored to exist.

So it is clear that we need more halls in Piteå, says Stina Johansson, establishment manager at Piteå municipality.

Concerns that too many halls are being built

But there is some concern from the associations.

- What to say, we will see how many courses are needed and how big the need will be, says Ulf Åberg, club manager for Piteå golf club and responsible for the paddle hall there.

Are there not enough halls in Piteå?

- Yes, you can probably think that.

And if a new hall is built at Bergsviksbron, that may be enough, but the future will show, says Ulf Åberg.

The hall on Berget and hopes to be ready within a year.

- Piteå is a sports city, it's just like that, so we really believe in this, says Stina Johansson.

But five halls in our small town?

-

Yes, it will be paddle-tight in Piteå, and the interest in sports is very big here, so this is something we believe in, says Stina Johansson.
