As the first municipality in the country, Sölvesborg closed its libraries in March last year.

A short opening in the autumn - and then closed again after just over a month when the spread of infection increased again.

But now the libraries in Sölvesborg are once again opening the gates for visitors.

- It's absolutely wonderful.

I was involved in demonstrating against closing, says Stefan Abrahamsson.

The closure of the libraries in Sölvesborg created an early political battle in the municipality, after the decision was made without any board meeting.

- It is a way to cut democracy, the left-wing party leader Willy Söderdahl told SVT last summer.

Whether the decision was right or wrong will also be tried by the Administrative Court.

Limits the number of visitors

Today Monday, the libraries in Sölvesborg, Mjällby and Hällevik opened.

People in risk groups can still have books sent home and the libraries have been adapted with infection control measures, for example only a limited number of visitors are allowed into the premises.

- We have tried to divide it so that you have entry and exit on different sides and that hand alcohol and mouth protection are offered, says the leisure and culture committee's chairman Rolf Berg (SD).
