Laurent Wauquiez, who won a second term at the head of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region on Sunday, said on Monday that he was "not in a speed race", after the call of his counterpart in Hauts- de-France, Xavier Bertrand, also re-elected, to "form a great team" for 2022.

"Obviously what we do in our Region is linked to what is happening at the national level. (...) But for me, it is very important that there is consistency. "I think that there is no future for politics neither at the local level, nor at the national level, if we fall into a kind of race of little wooden horses where we have barely jumped a hedge, we move on to another ", he insisted, setting himself first" the imperative to honor "his commitments.

"People need to feel that we are at work, that we are respecting the commitments we have made," added Mr. Wauquiez, who was re-elected on Sunday with a score of 55.17% against the list. union of environmental candidate Fabienne Grébert (33.65%).
