The Security Media Cell in Iraq said that Baghdad International Airport, where there is an air base housing Americans, was attacked last night by three drones, one of which was shot down by the air defenses inside the airport.

The cell added in a statement that an outlaw group targeted Balad Air Base with three missiles, without causing human or material losses, before targeting Baghdad airport with drones.

On the other hand, Al-Jazeera correspondent quoted the US Central Command as saying that the Baghdad Center for Diplomatic Support, which is located adjacent to Baghdad Airport, was attacked by drones that wounded the center.

The Central Command said it is investigating and will provide more information about the accident.

It is noteworthy that the function of the center is to provide military, security and logistical support for US diplomats.

Earlier, sources said that the Al-Nasr base, or the so-called Victoria base, stationed in the vicinity of Baghdad Airport, and which includes US forces, was the one that was targeted.

The last attack on Balad base - the largest air base in Iraq, 64 km north of Baghdad - was on May 3, with 3 missiles without causing losses, according to the Iraqi defense.

The base hosts American soldiers and others from the international coalition.

As well as the main base for the "F-16" (F-16) Iraqi.

The last attack on the military base at Baghdad airport was on May 2, with two Katyusha rockets, without losses or injuries.

No party claimed the two attacks.

The two attacks come hours after the spokesman for the Joint Operations Command (defense tracking), Tahsin al-Khafaji, announced in a statement to the official news agency, the resumption of the international coalition to provide spare parts for the Iraqi F-16 planes and the Iraqi C-1 aircraft.

The latest measure came a month after the American company, Lockheed Martin, withdrew the maintenance teams for the F-16s stationed at Balad Air Base for security reasons.

Over the past months, military bases that include US forces in Iraq and the Washington embassy in Baghdad have been subjected to missile attacks, which Washington has accused pro-Iranian armed factions of being responsible for.

About 3,000 international coalition forces are deployed in Iraq, including 2,500 Americans, to fight the Islamic State in the country.
